Has Your Credit Card Info Changed Recently?
Auto-renewal is a popular option for many PADI Members. Coming up the first week of November, PADI will start processing auto-renewal payments for 2012.

If your credit card information has changed in the past 12 months, please give our customer service department a call at: 800 729 7234 ext. 2495. The nice folks answering the phone can verify if we have your correct information and verify if you're set up for automatic renewal.

Please be advised: PADI's sales system does not talk to our membership database. In other words, if you've updated your credit card information on the online shopping cart or with a sales rep, the updated info will not have crossed over.

Benefits of auto-renewal

PADI (Americas) Instructors who opt in for auto-renewal save almost $20 versus the regular renewal rate.

Be the first kid on your blog to have a PADI eCard. The eCard is free to members who choose automatic renewal. You'll receive an eCard for your smartphone* with your highest professional certification level. The eCards will be available for download towards the end of 2011 (late-November / early December).

* iPhone and Android are supported, we're beta-testing the app for Blackberry

PADI Marketing Material - Any Requests?

Scuba Diving Posters, DVDs, Brochures, etc

PADI posters, stickers, banners, etc

Each year, PADI Americas Retail and Resort Members receive a free box of marketing material. In the past, we've sent posters, DVDs, a calendar, window clings, a mobile... all kinds of different things.

The marketing team is preparing the 2012 box o' marketing goodies. Are there any items that you'd like to see included? You can suggest something based on a type of program or a general idea for a promotional item.

Example program idea: Scuba Diving programs for children / college students
  • A chart to show a student's progress through the Seal Team Aqua Missions (similar to what we had for Master Scuba Diver).
  • A brochure describing how college students can earn credit either by earning scuba certifications and/or interning with the dive center.

Example promotional item idea: Tabletop flip display
The best ideas are stolen, right?. The next time you're out grocery shopping, or at a restaurant or the gym - keep an eye out for interesting displays.
Here's an example that's popular in casual dining restaurants (see image below). Would you use something like this in your dive center? You could, for example, display your upcoming dive trips, the different photo options for a Project AWARE card, etc.

To submit feedback or ideas for the 2012 marketing kit, please email Ashley dot Atkin at padi dot com. Or phone 800 729 7234 ext. 2237.

Project AWARE Manual Download and Photo Contest

Project AWARE Manual Download

Our World, Our Water - the manual used when teaching the Project AWARE specialty - is available as a free download from the new Project AWARE website. The Project AWARE specialty counts towards the Master Scuba Diver rating and is something non-diving family members or students may be interested in.

While you're on the new site, become my dive buddy in My Ocean, or submit a photo for this month's contest: Weirdest Marine Debris. The grand prize winner receives an Intova C9 camera, a variety of gear from SCUBAPRO and a PADI elearning pass for a EANx speciality course. Two runners-up will each win a PADI elearning pass for a Digital Underwater Photography course

Charity Events and PADI Members
Events such as a Dive Against Debris clean-up, or charitable fund raising event can be a great way to support an important cause and bring good publicity to your business. Here are two examples of charity events from two PADI Dive Centers in our region.

Dive for a Cure

Eugene Skin Divers, a PADI IDC Center in Eugene, Oregon will hold its Fourth Annual Dive for a Cure event this Saturday. In the last three years, Dive for a Cure  has raised over $100,000 for breast cancer research and education.

Divers who will be in the Pacific Northwest this weekend can find additional details at diveforacure.org. The event takes place this Saturday September 24, 2011 in Florence, Oregon. The day includes fun activities for divers and their family members including: a diving poker run, above-water games, BBQ, relevant speakers, children’s activities, and sweepstakes drawings - including one for a limited edition pink Vespa LX150.

Divers who do not live in the area but wish to support this event can visit diveforacure.org to make a tax-deductible donation.

A Chance for Children Summer Camp

A Chance For Children Summer Camp was created for "at-risk" youth of inner city Los Angeles. Some of the camp attendees have lived their whole lives in Los Angeles and have never been to the beach, had a bathing suit or learned how to swim.

Staff from Ocean Adventures, a PADI IDC Center in Venice participated in this year's camp - introducing kids to scuba diving. Read more about dive instructor Szilvia Gogh's experience working with the kids.

Divers in the Los Angeles area interesting in helping out (there are many activities in addition to the summer camp) please visit achanceforchildren.org.
